pin me a favour

I want to get married all over again just so I can have these badges these are just so much fun and available from one of my favourite online shops Cox & Cox £12 for as set of 12

Is that really from Ikea?

Everyone loves Ikea don't they? Well the only thing I find with Ikea is that it can all tend to look a bit the same but if you're clever with what you select you can get a really different look that can even fool your friends that you have been out spending loads of cash. This selection of pieces above wouldn't look out of place in the pages of Elle decoration you could even be mistaken in to thinking they were from some chic Italian furniture designer.
Trollsta sideboard £249
Trollsta tray table £45
Sveje black and white striped rug £8.99
Pjatteryd zebra picture £30
Tallvik copper table lamp £19.99

Sunday centerpiece love

picture from Martha Stewart

I often think that table centrepieces at weddings tend to look all the same as all the other weddings and it is sometimes left as an afterthought without much imagination or creativity being used. I believe that the centrepieces are extremely important and and set the scene for your reception, lets face it everyone will be looking at them for quite a few hours.
So if you want some ideas I am going to post a different one every Sunday to try and give some inspiration. You don't have to spend a fortune on them and even some of them can be easily done by a non expert. Why not try them out for a dinner party?
The one above is such a clever idea as you can use various vases in different shapes and sizes (you could even use jam jars) then put the vases inside white paper bags (you could use coloured ones) tie around the top with ribbon or string. Lots of blooms of the same colour work brilliantly together and give a really pretty look that costs hardly anything!

Revive

I'm a huge fan of ASOS they have such a great selection of catwalk inspired clothes that don't have the catwalk price tag to go with them. They update their site every week with new items and even have their own boutique lines. I am currently loving their ASOS Revive collection which is a vintage inspired look.  These beautiful dresses are just perfect for day wear dressed down with a cardigan and boots or dress them up for evening wear with a killer pair of heels and some sexy jewellery prices range from £65-£75

Introduction of the two new members of the team

Hi let me introduce myself my name is Piglet which is an unusual name for a West highland female dog and it often makes humans laugh I am sometimes also known as Piggerly poo or Baby girl.  I am four years old in human years but in my late twenties in dog years and I am often described as pretty but I only really think I am when I am wearing my favourite perfume fox pooh. My owner also known as "Mummy" has been for sometime neglecting myself and my companion Alfie of  the usual hours of adoration since she has been blogging so we have decided that we are going to do some blogging of our own.

Alfie isn't great at English like me so I am going to be doing most of the writing (he is rather stupid and in my opinion a little bit fat). So how to describe Alfie? he is a bit strange, he thinks that he is pack leader which of course is myself or Mummy would disagree and say herself and even "Daddy" might say it was him, but anyway he does seem to think it is him. What makes a good pack leader is not barking madly at strange humans and even trying to bite them or urinating on the floor when said strange human tries to stroke you. He is very obsessed with food and sometimes has the cheek to try and steal mine. To be perfectly honest he does annoy me but he does provide me with entertainment when I feel like a chase or a bit of a wrestle which I am the best at!

Me (Piglet) I was doing a "I'm bored of all this picture taking look"

So who is Piglet? well I am an expert runner I like to have my daily jog I have all the latest gadgets like the best ball thrower which "Daddy" brings with me when we go out. I love Yoga which comes in very handy when I am trying to get myself under the dresser unit in the Lounge, through metal railings or in rabbit holes. I like to wear the latest fashions I am currently wearing the designer Paul Smith's collar (although Alfie insists on wearing the same which I am mortified about)  My favourite foods are chicken, cheese, bread, cake and pig ears. I am afraid to say I am going through a difficult patch as I am trying to give up a terrible habit but it really is very hard "My name is Piglet and I am a licker!" there I said it that is the first step in LA (lickers anonymous)

This was just a quick introduction to Alfie and myself but we will be coming back with our next blog "how to train your owner"

see you soon lick lick Piglet and Alfie xxxx

White Gloss Dining

This first mood board is a classic contemporary look which would work brilliantly for a dining room or wedding reception. White gloss dining table teamed with white gloss Louis style dining chairs with a contemporary twist. Mother of pearl shell feature chandelier, white goblet wine glasses, white tulips in square glass vase for table centre piece, Ornate mirror with mirror frame and napkin rings in style of large diamond ring. Round mirror table mats would finish this look of with crisp white linen. White works well if you use a mixture of textures teamed with mirror and chrome gives it a very contemporary glamours look.

Booth Love

http://www.groovybooth.com/
The greatest thing we had at our wedding was the photo booth it was by far the best thing we spent our money on. All the guest absolutely loved it, it didn't matter what age or sex everyone went in it and the photo's are amazing. We had seen a photo booth company at the designer wedding show last year and set our hearts on having one but with the price tag of £1,800 for 2 hours it really wasn't in our budget. So after some time searching on the Internet I found Groovy Booth they were half the price and we had them for four hours, this included guest book with two copies of the photographs which meant one for the book and one for the guests to take home.
I collected many props for the booth which included face masks of iconic stars (David bowie,Audrey Hepburn etc) Victorian face masks, cowboy hat, gorilla hands, angel halo, chalk board, heart shaped sun glasses and Venetian masks. The booth was such a hit that we paid for an extra hour. I can not rave enough about how brilliant the booth attendant was and the quality of the pictures. Every time I look at the photographs it makes me laugh so much it brings back so many great memories.

shoes good enough to eat!

When it came to my hen party I knew there could only be one theme and that was "sex and the city" so me and my lovely hens went up to London to the Churchill Hotel for afternoon SATC tea. Now as you might all know I LOVE afternoon tea and SATC so what could be better? It was the best afternoon tea I have ever had. The little finger sandwiches were also accompanied by mini hot dogs, min burgers (a homage to Jack Berger), mini new york bagels, mini pink cupcakes, appletini jelly's in mini martini glasses, mini glazed ring doughnuts and Carries favourite mini strawberry chocolate stiletto shoes!
There was also a choice of teas each one was picked to go with one of the girls (Charlotte would naturally have the early grey) and a cocktail. I went for the flirtini which consisted of champagne, vodka and pineapple juice yummy!

Now on my little searching for everything lovely I found the company that make the chocolate shoes they are called choc chic and they do a huge range of shoes and bags all in delicious chocolate flavours. They also just so happen to do chocolate workshops which would be brilliant for hen parties. http://www.chocchic.co.uk/index.html

Garter or not to Garter.......

When it came to my wedding I couldn't decide if I wanted to do the tradition of wearing a garter (mainly because I didn't want my leg to look like a string of sausages or to cut my circulation off!) I looked at a few and most of them looked really tacky so decided not to until I looked on Liberty in love's website and totally fell for their garters (I also needed something blue)  They are not cheap but they are so pretty and have the vintage heirloom look they really are worth the money (if you're into garters!)

Aphrodite hand made beaded garter with lace £50

Eden handmade antique ivory lace with duck egg bow and rhinestone £50

I had the Eden Garter check out http://www.libertyinlove.co.uk/ for more

Photo frame

This Picture frame wall is such a wonderful idea for a party or wedding and looks relatively easy to make. A bit of wood covered in some wallpaper with pictures frames over the cut outs then add a collection of family and friends photographs in photo frames. Totally genius and looks loads of fun.....

Don't you just love a theme?

I am in love with this wedding of Ginny and Ed's oh if I had been taller than 5ft 2" tall, blessed with her bone structure and figure then this is what I would have wanted for my wedding. It's so amazing the twenties theme is brilliant and I love the fact that all the guests dressed up too. These pictures were taken by the very talented photographer Josh Goleman http://www.joshgoleman.com/. The Americans really do know how to style a wedding!

Budget Beauty

Not all brides have or want to spend a huge amount of money on their wedding. So with  a bit of a search you can achieve a stunning look from shopping off the high street. This beautiful silk maxi wedding dress with embroidery under the bust is from Monsoons bridal range and is only £180. These bridal shoes with rose bud and diamante detail are an absolute bargain from Dune they were £90.00 now reduced to £36.00! Every bride needs something pretty for their hair so how about this stunning pearl cluster head band from Coast at £45.00.
Bridesmaid dresses can be expensive and never to be worn again after the big day but this pretty beaded nude number above from Miss Selfridge can be worn on a night out as well and is only £85.00. You can't beat New Look for their affordable but gorgeous shoes and these ivory heels with rose detail are only £20.00. Something for the hair? this pretty ivory rose hair clip with diamante detail is a steel at £2.99 also from New Look.
So it just shows you don't have to have designer to look stunning on your big day
