High Street Style City Wedding

Not all of us can afford the big bucks wedding or just don't want to spend that sort of money. So where do you start? Having looked on many wedding blogs over the last couple of years I have come to find that many of the really stand out weddings that I love turn out to be the lesser budget ones and the bride has worn some killer stunning dress that was either a vintage find in a charity shop or a very clever shop on the high street.
Here is my look I have put together for a City Chic Wedding that you can buy on the Internet or on the High Street getting an expensive look for not a lot of dosh!

An elegant chiffon champagne 1950's inspired dress from LK Bennett this moves so beautifully and at £225.00 it is a steal.
Full length sleeve lace style cream bolero adds a touch of detail to this plain but stylish dress and is great to cover up your upper arms if you hate them like I do Monsoon £75.00.
These glamourous peep toe champagne platform shoes are perfect for this look and can be worn again unlike some wedding shoes Reiss £139.00.
To keep this look simple I didn't want to add lots of jewellery so this hair band gives just enough sparkle made from swarovski crystal in a floral garland style N.O.T.H.S £165.00

Suits can be expensive to buy so it's worth investing in one that can be worn again.

Reiss menswear has a reputation for having up to the minute style with quality that will last. This wool/mohair suit from their autumn winter collection has a classic style jacket with a notch lapel in this bright blue brings it on trend £495.00.
With a classic white shirt you can add a bit of fun with this grey dotty bow tie from Topman £10.00.
To finish off the look I have selected these grey leather brogues from ASOS £75.00.

Bridesmaids dresses don't have to come from a traditional bridal shop the high street is full of great dresses that your bridesmaids might actually wear again

This graphite coloured halter neck dress with pleated skirt is modern and elegant Reiss £189.00.
Kurt Geiger always do amazing shoes and their Miss KG range has all the style but for a more buget friendly price metallic peep toe heels with bow detail £70.00.
I really love feathers and this alice band from Monsoon is the perfect colour with metallic chain detailing £16.00.

City of Love Part 2......

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

So we arrived in Paris after a slightly stressful start and after locating our hotel in the Montparnasse district we dropped our bags off and decided to explore. The metro is so unbelievably easy to use so a quick trip and we were at the Eiffle tower. Guy doesn't like heights and the queues were extremely long so we didnt go up the tower but walked along the river and took in the sites

That evening we ate out in the Montparnasse area which is full of great restuarants and bars they are located around the foot of the Montparnasse tower that has amazing views of Paris from the top of it.

The next morning we got up nice and early to avoid the crowds and made our way to the Musee d'orsay. There as so many art museums in Paris it is impossible to see them all in a weekend the thing I loved about The musee d'orsay was the building itself it has amazing architecture it was once a railway station built in 1900. If you love the impressionist paintings then this is definitely worth a visit. I especially loved the art nouveau exhibition which has many pieces of furniture as well as jewellery and home wares.
After this visit the sun was still out so we decided to take in the sites from the batobus this is a brilliant way to travel around Paris as one ticket means you can get on and off at any of the stops all day. We set off for the notre dame stop.
Notre Dame is a stunning cathedral and seeing it for the first time from the river was truly beautiful. The square just outside the cathedral was full of tourist and the queue to get in snaked around and around for what looked like miles so because we had a lot to see we opted out of going inside.

I loved these stalls just along the river from Notre Dame they were selling vintage magazines and posters

After walking along the river towards the Louvre the sun disappeared and there was a terrible rain storm. Guy forgot his umbrella and refused to buy another one so we had my very small fold up umbrella to hide under!

We sheltered from the rain storm in a bar not far from the Louvre and had a lovely meal and a few gin and tonics! The Louvre was truly awe inspiring it is so huge!

The park beyond the Louvre is so beautiful and with the rain clouds gone it was was lovely to sit and watch children playing with the boats on the pond.

We walked up to the Place de la Concorde and carried on towards the start of the Champs Elysee's where they were setting up for the finish of the Tour de France that was happening the following day. We made our way to the river to get back on the batobus waiting for the boat to arrive we walked under the bridge and witnessed this man playing on his saxophone.

This was one of many beautiful buildings I couldn't stop looking at in Paris

One of the very stylish lamps on the famous Le pont Alexandre III

On the Sunday on our Anniversary we spent the day in Versailles it was a beautiful sunny day by far the best weather we had the whole weekend. After getting off the 15 minute train journey we took a short walk to the palace we were the only people to get off the train so we thought it wasn't going to be very busy. We were very wrong when we came around the corner it was like walking to a stadium concert there were thousands of people walking up to the gates. The car park was full of coaches and the queue to get into the house was at least an hour wait!
Feeling slightly disappointed at the thought of hours of queuing on our anniversary we then decided we would do a tour of the gardens first. This was by far the best decision the gardens are the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen I could never do justice to their beauty in trying to describe them. The are so vast you couldn't possibly walk around them in a day. Guy got very excited when he saw that you could hire golf buggies to do the tours in this was great fun we got to see all of the fountains, the petite trianon, the grand trianon, the boating lake. We had lunch in the cafe by the boating lake and continued the tour back towards the house.
On our return we started to queue for the house it took 30mins and to say I was extremely disappointed was an understatement they had let so many people into the house you couldn't move we had to shuffle through the rooms into the next without really seeing anything. To my horror people were taking pictures, grabbing the curtains and stroking the wallpaper they could have trashed the whole house and security couldn't have done a thing!
Versailles really was amazing and the highlight of our trip I would love to go back and see more.
In the evening we had dinner in Montparnasse again and went for drinks at the famous restaurant bar La Coupole if you love Art Deco and history then you will totally love this bar. Everything looks original from when it opened in 1927 it is very romantic it was the best way to end an amazing weekend and our one year anniversary.

Love is......

I am addicted to shopping, magazines and make up so therefor I thought I would let you into my must haves this week it is my make up must haves.
You name it I have tried it from the budget ranges to the expensive and I don't even want to think how much I have spent over the years on make up. I am forever searching for that perfect product that will make me look stunning but I am starting to think that such a thing does not exist!
These are my current must have items
Benefit Brows a-go-go is an essential I have very fair hair
so my eyebrows are practically invisible they also look like I pluck them frantically which I don't I'm just not very hairy. Therefor I have to pencil my eyebrows in. This kit is perfect it has everything you could possibly ever need to have eyebrow perfection. It's so easy to use you start by brushing the wax over your eyebrows then brush the brow zing powder over the top. You can even highlight just under your brow line given it more definition with the brow higlighter powder.

I have hundreds of lipsticks/lipglosses but this is by far my favourite everyday colour. Clarins instant light natural lip protector comes in three natural colours 01 rose is my colour of choice as it has just enough pink to give me a little bit of colour. What I hate with some lip glosses is that they can be too thick and glittery this gives your lips a lovely shine without the clumpiness.

I do not have great skin I dream of having perfect skin but I am just not blessed with those genes. My skin in my teens was fine a few occasional spots but nothing major then I hit my twenties and I suddenly started to get masses of spots not all the time but enough to warrant me having to wear concealer every day. Laura mercier's secret camouflage is a great all rounder with it's two tone colours in the set it can be used to conceal dark circles, redness around the nose area, spots and discolourations. You can mix and blend the two colours together to get just the right tone.

I have never really got on with eyeliner pencils unless they are mega sharp I just end up with big smudged lines (I also get in a big mess with the pencil sharpner) I find it much easier to use a gel liner with a thin brush that you can just paint on to your hearts content. I have only recently come across Pixi and I have to say their gel liner is brilliant it lasts all day and never smudges the brush it comes with is so easy to use.

I would love to hear from any of your must have make up products (to add to my collection!)
