I suddenly have a liking for blue don't get me wrong I have always liked blue but more greeny blue but now I like blue in all it's deep tones. In the interior world blue took a serious noise dive in the late 90's it was consider naff probably because it was always put with yellow like peach and green's. So you needed to look very hard if you wanted a blue wallpaper or fabric none of the designers would touch it. Then fast forward to 2011/12 and it is now huge blue is everywhere and is back on the cool list and is all sophisticated.

| These are the blue tones I am loving at the moment From top left Dulux Sapphire Springs 3, Dulux Venetian Crystal 1, Dulux Sapphire Springs 1 From bottom left Crown Oxford Blue. Crown 1987 Denim, Crown Double Denim You can use blue as an accent colour like in picture one in this modern living room the walls have been kept a very neutral clean white and the floors a deep walnut. By adding the blue large patterned rug it gives a cool vibrancy to the room. Why not go all out and paint all walls in a deep blue like in picture two and contrast with white furniture the brown wooden dresser adds a warmth to this otherwise cool coloured room. |
I love the simplicity to this bedroom in picture one and the use of different tones and textures of blue.
Again in picture two the use of different tones in blue works so well and mixed with the silver leaf dressing table makes it look very chic.
The accessorising in picture one is very clever the blue box files and storage boxes look so neat and clean against the white shelving notice how the walnut desk contrasts so well and stops this room being too clinical.
The eclectic home office in picture two is so much fun I like how the blue wall really shows up the yellow floor lamp, red desk chair and poster on the wall by keeping the rest of the furniture white gives it a really fresh modern look.
Blue is definitely going to feature somewhere in my house I just can't decide which tone now!
